NIWA RESTAURANT: TACTILE SURFACES AND LIGHT CONJURE UP SPECIAL MOODS

Special moods created with tactile surfaces and light: Emilgroup for Niwa restaurant

Niwa Japanese restaurant in Como is an example of how intelligent use of interior design elements can shape special moods with skilful interplays of light and shade. The Naòs Design architecture firm of Milan set out to create a concept that would convey the typical Japanese tradition of food of excellence, by styling elegant interiors of genuine depth.

Light is the project's central element, creating an attractive interior with an exotic flavour. To achieve this aim, the surfaces are the subtle yet fundamental complement to every interior design feature, with dining room coverings in Emilgroup porcelain stoneware solutions with strong tactile appeal.

The floors are finished with the tactile shades of Be-Square by Emilceramica, in the elegant grey concrete variant, size 120x240 cm, the ideal background for the velvet upholstery and the impeccable shine of the tables.

The kitchen wall coverings are brightened with the “brick” effect of the Regoli, a distinctively shaped tile from the Karman collection by Provenza, chosen in the Petrolio colour, in the 7.5x30 cm size. The working environment is finished with bright colours in the spectrum from green to petroleum, which recurs throughout the interior of Niwa, which means “garden” in Japanese.
